Event Details

Students must drop off 6-8 works of art between 11am and 1pm on 
Friday, March 22nd in E-9. Works must be picked up between 5 and 6pm.

Awards Parameters:
• Applicants will submit a portfolio of six to eight works of art to be juried by Sierra College Art, Applied Art and Design and Photography Departments’ faculty and staff
• A Scholarship Application Contract must be completely filled out and signed by applicant
• The following media will be considered: Printmaking, Drawing, Photography, Sculpture, Video,
Graphic Design, Ceramics, Painting, Mixed Media, and Collage
• Applicant portfolios must consist of only work created while a student at Sierra College. It should be reflective of educational experiences while at Sierra College, though the work does not have be the direct result of an in-class assignment
• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Sierra College (Spring 2019)

Awards to be selected:

Hallberg Merit Awards
Hallberg Merit Awards are given annually to four Sierra College students through an endowment made by Ed and Kaylene Hallberg. The awardees receive $500 and an exhibit at the Ridley Gallery in fall 2019. This award honors the fine work produced by students of Sierra College and also allows these outstanding students the opportunity to build professional practices and cultivate new work.

Hallberg Award recipients must agree to 
1) participate in an exhibition of their work in fall 2019 
2) provide an artist statement and bio 
3) pursue additional new work for the exhibition
4) be available to attend the opening reception, date to be determined (usually September)

Kingsley Merit Award
The Kingsley Merit Award is a yearly award given to one outstanding Sierra College student. This $600 award is given by the Kingsley Art Club (www.kingsleyartclub.org). The Kingsley Art Club has been active for over 120 years, and currently focuses on art education and encouragement of art training and teaching.

The Kinglsey Award recipient must agree to:
1) attend the Scholarship Reception on May 2, 4-6pm at the Crocker Art Museum 
2) provide a 200-word artist statement, a head shot, and a photograph of the selected work to the committee BY Monday, March 25.
