Event Details

The Power of Music

How does music impact, elevate, inspire your life?

How does music take us to other times and other places and other feelings?

How can we listen with more awareness and appreciation to the musical creation around us? Discuss these topics with Donna Axton, LMFT, M.A., Sierra Nevada College Music Program Chair and Psychology Professor.

Donna Axton, M.A., teaches counseling related psychology courses including Counseling and Clinical Psychology, Art and Music Therapy, Abnormal Psychology, and Human Development at Sierra Nevada College. Axton spent 14 years touring the world as a pianist in Hoyt Axton's band. She played country western, boogie-woogie, gospel, and rock and roll on 21 albums, co-produced two, and appeared on dozens of television shows, including the Tonight Show. She has many writing, arranging and directing credits to her name and has directed, conducted and/or played for scores of local musical productions at all levels from community to professional. She is also known as a chamber music and solo pianist. Donna holds an MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a BS from Allegheny College.
