What is assessment and why do we assess?

Assessment is the ongoing, systematic collection, review and use of information about the entire educational experience to improve student learning. Assessment follows a cycle including: planning, implementing, assessing, reporting/revising. Assessment helps align instruction and student services in order to meet program and institutional goals.

Student learning outcomes assessment is a faculty driven process used to increase student success, enhance the quality of our programs, allocate resources efficiently and continually improve.
