Assistive Technology Lab
Students with disabilities are supported through specialized software and hardware at Sierra College. In the Assistive Technology Lab you will receive individualized training and hands-on practice. Assistive computer stations are also available campus wide.
Assistive software and support includes the following:
- Scan/Read programs for learning/visual disabilities: Kurzweil 1000 and 3000; Read and Write Gold; ClaroRead.
- Screen Readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and Fusion
- Magnification: ZoomTextXtra and Fusion
- Speech Recognition: Dragon Naturally Speaking
- Writing Development and Organization: Inspiration, Dataspiration
- Notetaking Solutions: AudioNotetaker, SmartPen
Sierra College also has a variety of assistive hardware including a Braille embosser, tactile image enhancer, closed circuit TV magnifiers, and portable keyboard note-takers.
