Sierra College Breaks Ground on Affordable Student Housing with Support from the State of California and Local Donors

Sierra College broke ground today on a campus-changing student housing complex that when completed will provide housing for more than 350 students. Hello fellow Sierra College Foundation Supporters!

It is my privilege to continue to serve this great organization as president of the Board of Directors. I am extremely proud of our Board and the passion each member brings to this endeavor. We saw a record year that positively impacted so many students.

Here a few notable statistics from the 2024-25 academic year:

19,945 students enrolled
3,573 degrees and certificates awarded
153 degrees and 41 certificates offered
More than 60 percent of Sierra College students are eligible for financial assistance
Through the Student Assistance Fund Endowment (SAFE), SCF served nearly 10,000 students with $163,981 in funding for emergency housing, transportation, food, gas and more
SCF awarded over $350,000 in scholarships
SCF raised $142,886 through eTeam donations and the fall Golf Classic for Wolverine Athletics
Supported nursing students with nearly $70,000 for materials, lab fees, books and supplies
5,500 students visited the food pantry at the Basic Needs Center
SCF raised more than $400,000 at the President’s Circle Gala
SCF raised nearly $2 million for the Endow-a-Bed Program for the college’s new affordable housing facility opening in 2026
SCF was the recipient of $800,000 in monetary gifts from private trusts, Bosch Community Fund, the US Department of Commerce, Sutter Health and US Bank, to name a few

Those really are just the highlights — there is so much more that we’ve been able to do working with donors, friends, supporters and alumni like you. Thank you for supporting SCF.

We look forward to continued collaboration to support our Sierra College students who go on to impact our community as nurses, engineers, teachers, first responders and more. An investment in the Sierra College Foundation is an investment in Placer County. Thank you for your support.

Who We Are

Sierra College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization that raises money from private donors to support students, college programs, and the future of Sierra College. The Foundation was formed in 1972 and incorporated in 1973 with a mission of giving the community the opportunity to invest in the development and quality educational opportunities for all.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundation grants, Sierra College Foundation has grown along with the college. The Foundation encourages gifts to enhance college programs, for faculty support, and facility improvements.

Sierra College Foundation is independently audited and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, most of whom live and work in the communities served by the Sierra Joint Community College District of Placer, Nevada, and parts of Sacramento and El Dorado Counties.

Contributions to Sierra College Foundation qualify for state and federal tax deductions, and for estate tax savings.
