Programs and Initiatives
Connecting classroom instruction and student services enhances student equity. Student Equity reports to the Vice President of Instruction and the Vice President of Student Services while working with the shared governance structure.
Individualized Support Programs, Support Services and Communities
Sierra College offers a wide range of support programs that provide individualized support for a variety of needs, as well as support services that meet the needs of specific communities. Learn more about our support programs and services.
Current Initiatives
Sierra College’s Student Equity initiatives are aligned with the 2025–2028 Student Equity and Achievement Plan and focus on removing systemic barriers, strengthening belonging, and improving outcomes across enrollment, persistence, completion, and transfer for disproportionately impacted students.
Current initiatives include:
- Coordinated Case Management, Academic Planning, and Peer Navigation
- Student-Centered Math, English, and ESL Instructional Support
- Basic Needs, Mental Health, and Holistic Student Well-Being Support

Sierra College Students Speak Report
Sierra College is committed to closing equity gaps. The Sierra College Students Speak Report (July 2020) provides the college with an opportunity to self-reflect on our current structures and re-envision what we do to better meet the needs of our students.
Student Equity Plan
The Student Equity Plan outlines equity-focused goals across key student success areas, including enrollment, completion of transfer-level Math and English, persistence, completion, and transfer. These goals are informed by data from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and local analysis to address equity gaps for disproportionately impacted students.
