Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honors Schulz for building workforce partnerships that expand opportunity across the region

Dr. Amy Schulz, Executive Dean of Workforce and Strategic Initiatives at Sierra College, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Líder of Progress Award by the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She received the award at the Chamber’s first-ever Sacramento Hispanic Economic Impact Awards on Sept. 18.

The Líder of Progress Award honors an individual whose leadership has advanced opportunity, representation and economic progress in the region by strengthening communities, championing equitable outcomes, and building lasting partnerships across sectors.

In selecting Schulz, the Chamber cited her work bringing together educators, employers, economic development organizations, and community partners to create practical and equitable pathways to education, skills development and quality careers. The Chamber noted that by aligning workforce training with the evolving needs of regional employers, her work is helping people prepare for good-paying jobs while strengthening the talent pipeline the region needs for long-term economic growth.

“I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition,” said Schulz. “To me, this award reflects what inclusive economic development is all about: education, employers, community organizations, workforce partners, and families working together to create opportunity and build stronger communities.”

“Amy has spent her career connecting education to opportunity, and being chosen as the first recipient of this award speaks to the impact of that work across our region,” said Willy Duncan, Sierra College Superintendent/President. “We’re proud of her leadership and grateful to the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for celebrating the partnerships that make our communities stronger.”

The Hispanic Economic Impact Awards recognize the businesses, leaders, initiatives and partners making a measurable difference in the economic future of Hispanics across the Greater Sacramento Region. The program builds on the Chamber’s State of Hispanics work and the findings of its Hispanic Economic Report. Schulz was honored alongside the Franklin Boulevard Business Association, SMUD, and Health Education Council..
