About The District

Sierra College is a fully accredited, two-year institution with its main campus located in Rocklin, California, and campuses located in Grass Valley, Roseville and Truckee.

Situated in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills, the main Sierra College campus is centrally located near Interstate 80. Just a few short miles from the state capitol in Sacramento, Sierra College has a lovely setting with mild winters, breathtaking springs, and warm summers. Lake Tahoe is within short driving distance, as well as the wine country of Napa and the historic beauty of the gold county.

The college offers instruction in over 60 course disciplines in two-year degree programs. The college serves over 18,000 students, offering 126 degrees and certificates. We also offer an extensive list of lower-division courses for students who transfer to four-year universities. We award the largest number of Associate degrees in California. The academic schedule consists of two 16-week semesters and summer sessions.

The college also provides a broad range of Community Education (non-credit) courses and is one of only four community colleges in the nation to have an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).

In January 2019, Sierra College received the Wonderful Workplace award at the annual Rocklin Chamber Business Excellence Awards. This award recognizes a business or organization that has a wonderful work environment, competitive benefits and team spirit. The faculty, staff, students and management at Sierra College are known throughout the area as warm and friendly.

In 2018, Sierra College received the Business Legacy Award from the City of Rocklin for the college’s significant contribution to the local and regional economy in the past and present, as well as affecting the future. Sierra was also recognized as a Healthiest Employer by the Sacramento Business Journal in 2013.

As one of the top employers in Placer County, Sierra has over 1,300 employees (526 full-time faculty and staff and over 800 part-time faculty) in four locations across the 3,200 mile district.

“One of the reasons working at Sierra College is so wonderful is that all of our employees care deeply about the college and our students. Everyone wants to see our students succeed in accomplishing their goals and that common mission helps to guide our daily work. Knowing that we are helping students accomplish their educational goals makes the work we do very rewarding. We also have a very collaborative culture and our employees are encouraged to participate in decision making throughout the college.”
- Ryan Davis, Vice President of Human Resources.
