Trustee Seats Up for Election

The following Trustee Areas are up for election:

• Area 3
• Area 4
• Area 6 (short-term)
• Area 7

Qualifications

Each candidate must be 18 years of age, a citizen of the State of California, and a registered voter residing in Sierra College Trustee Area 3, 4, 6 or 7.

Candidate Filing Period

Opens: July 15, 2024

Closes: August 9, 2024

Note: If an incumbent does not file, the filing period for that Trustee Area will be extended to August 14.

Cost

There is no cost to file, however candidates that choose to have candidate statements printed in sample ballots are responsible for the costs. Candidates may choose to have candidate statements printed in any or all of the ballots printed in the four counties making up Sierra College (Placer, Nevada, and portions of Sacramento and El Dorado). Cost information may be obtained from the county elections offices (may exceed $5,000 if statements are placed in all four ballots).

Board Meetings

The Board of Trustees generally meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Rocklin campus, with meetings held at the Nevada County campus and Tahoe-Truckee campus at least once a year. All day planning meetings are held at least once per year.

Compensation

The compensation for board members is currently $510 per month, prorated for the number of meetings that month (see Board Policy 2725). Board members are entitled to reimbursement of Board-related, approved travel expenses (see Board Policy 2735). Board members may also elect to receive such health, life and welfare benefits as are extended to District management employees (see Board Policy 2730).
