Appointment to Trustee Area 6 Seat

The Board is soliciting applications for persons wishing to serve as an appointed member of the Board of Trustees representing Trustee Area 6. The appointed individual will serve until the next regularly scheduled election for governing board members, which will be held November 2024. 

Position for Appointment

Visit the District Map to view a map of the Trustee Area boundaries. Residency must be confirmed by the County Elections office.

Applicant Qualifications

Each applicant must reside in Trustee Area 6 of the Sierra Joint Community College District and meet all legal qualifications for service, including being 18 years of age, a citizen of the State of California, and a registered voter. It is recommended that applicants review the statement of desired qualities.

Appointment Timeline

Applications Due: Wednesday, October 11, 2023 – Applications must be received by the Sierra College President’s Office no later than 5pm.

Applicant Statements to Board: Monday, October 16, 2023 – Finalists will be given the opportunity to make a brief statement to the Board in public session.

Board Deliberations and Appointment: Tuesday, November 7, 2023 – The Board will deliberate and make its appointment during the Board meeting in public session. Additional meetings may be called if necessary.

Board Meetings

The Board of Trustees generally meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Rocklin campus, with meetings held at the Nevada County campus and Tahoe Truckee campus at least once a year. All day planning meetings are held at least once per year.


The compensation for board members is currently $486 per month, prorated for the number of meetings that month (see Board Policy 2725). Board members are entitled to reimbursement of Board-related, approved travel expenses (see Board Policy 2735). Board members may also elect to receive such health, life and welfare benefits as are extended to District management employees (see Board Policy 2730).
